Even in the glittery and glamorous world of Hollywood, it is still the men who end up on top and earn the green, ice cold cash. But do not underestimate the powers and charms of the top-billed actresses just yet. From a survey done between May 2010 to May 2011, they earned a total of $218 million. Kudos to that!
Sharing the top post of Forbe’s list are the seasoned actresses Angelina Jolie and Sarah Jessica Parker who both earned around $30 million. Kudos to that!
Jolie has established herself in the competitive world of Hollywood by taking on movie roles that range from drama to action. She even took on directing her own movies. In relation to this, her latest directing stint is the upcoming movie entitled, “In The Land of Blood and Honey”. It’s a love story set in the days of Bosnian War. But before this project, she just culminated two of her box office hits in 2010, the movies “Salt” and “The Tourist”. In “The Tourist”, Jolie worked with Johnny Depp. When the movie was released in cinemas, local audiences gave it the cold shoulder resulting to a sad opening weekend gross of only $16 million. But due to Jolie’s appeal abroad, it went on to gross a total of $280 million.
Moving on to the funny and fashion forward Sarah Jessica Parker, she still earns most of her cash from “Sex and the City”. Reruns, as well as her double role as the star and producer of the show, make her continue to earn big bucks. Not to mention the worldwide success of the 2 movie versions of “Sex and the City” which grossed in a total of $705 million.
Parker has also become a beauty icon herself. And this allowed her to make her own line of perfumes which include Lovely, Covet, and NYC (it brought in $18 million in 2010). Presently, she is an assistant designer for the Halston clothing fashion line.
Ranking on number three, just next in line to Jolie and Parker, are Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon who both earned $28 million in 2010. 
But it has not always been easy being Aniston. For the past years, her movies were a failure in the box office. Just recently, her movie “The Bounty Hunter” was released. Although it started slow, its opening grossed only $20 million, but went on to attract a total of $136 million. Not bad for a movie who’s budget was $40 million. And then there’s her latest starrer “Just Go With It” where she worked side by side with Adam Sandler. It is her fourth highest grossing filming so far.
Moving on to Reese Witherspoon, her luck is the total opposite to that of Aniston’s. Most of her movies were box office hits before. But her current release “How Do You Know” failed to do so taking in only $50 million which is not even half of its production of $120 million. Thankfully it did not do any damage to her worth as she will still earning big from her upcoming movie “This Means War”.
