Former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife for 25 years Maria Shriver’s true reason for separation? Arnold’s ten-year old child with a former member of his household staff.
The former politician admits fathering a child, according to the Los Angeles time. Arnold informed her wife after leaving the governor’s office prompting Shriver to moved out of the couple’s Brentwood mansion.
In a statement to the newspaper, Schwarzenegger, 63, said Monday: “After leaving the governor’s office I told my wife about this event, which occurred over a decade ago. I understand and deserve the feelings of anger and disappointment among my friends and family. There are no excuses and I take full responsibility for the hurt I have caused. I have apologized to Maria, my children and my family. I am truly sorry.”
Schwarzenegger, 63, and his wife, Maria Shriver announced their separation last week. They are already living separate lives in early part of the year. They have been married 25 years and have four children ages 13 to 21 years old. After the revelation, Arnold and Shriver’s camp both refused to give any more comment. The power couple’s influence transcend to politics, business and media. Shriver was a rising TV reporter on NBC before she met Arnold and got married. Her mother was the sister of assassinated U.S. President John F. Kennedy and her father, Sargeant Shriver was the founder of Peace Corp who died in January at the age of 95. Though a Democrat, she campaigned for Arnold who is a Democrat and regarded to be the driving force for his political success. She also defended her former husband against allegations of machismo and womanizing
Shriver is of the most active First Ladies in the history of California. She is involved in many charity works and organizing The Women’s Conference, a forum that promote female empowerment. The couple have four children and they vow to work together in raising them even after the separation.
Before Arnold admitted fathering a child with a staffer, the unnamed woman said her then-husband was the child’s father. She worked for the family for 20 years and retired in January.
The former governor admitted to also providing financial support to his child. He asked the media to respect his wife and children through this extremely difficult time, “While I deserve your attention and criticism, my family does not. ”
After two terms as governor, Schwarzenegger expressed his desire to star in another version of the “Terminator” movie franchise that made him famous. He also signed on to star in the drama Cry Macho and has a Governator comic and animated series, which they plan to produce in movies as well.. Meanwhile Shriver is busy running a women’s empowerment website and also works as a guest editor for Oprah Winfrey’s magazine, O.
