Harry Potter’s final installment breaks another box-office record only two weeks since its showing. Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 2 is set to be the most successful film of the franchise as it reaches the $1 billion mark in worldwide ticket sales.

The film recorded a gross of $296 million domestically and $630 million overseas through Thursday for a global total of $926 million. The final film in the eight movie installment is on track to be the most successful movie in the franchise, as Harry Potter fans bid goodbye to their famous wizard. It beats Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (first film of the franchise) which grossed $974.8 million globally in 2001-02.

Large chunk of the ticket sales was earned internationally with U.K., Japan, Australia and Germany leading the box office sales outside the U.S.  68 percent of Deathly Hallows Part 2’s gross has been earned at the international box office.
But there is only one film that was able to hit the $2 billion mark and that’s James Cameron’s Avatar ($2.8 billion).

All of the eight Harry Potter films crossed the $7 billion mark earlier this summer after the final film’s July 15 release.  Despite second week drop in the previous Harry Potter films, distributor Warner Bros. believe that even those who have not watched earlier Potter flicks will watch this final installment to say goodbye to the decade old and mega-successful Potter saga.

Meanwhile, its stars who came from relative unknown and now are worldwide celebrities are moving on with their lives and careers. Daniel Radcliffe who played the famous Harry Potter said he is very thankful for the opportunity to star in the film.
“I feel like It’s been a huge learning curve and I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of the best actors in the world,” Radcliffe told E! News. “I feel like to a certain extent that I’ve been in the best film/drama school that anyone could wish for because there’s no better way to learn something than by doing it.” Radcliffe stars in the ghost movie The Woman in Black, coming early next year.

Emma Watson who plays the smart Hermione Granger is the new face of Lancome. She will also appear in the feature My Week With Marilyn, playing a wardrobe mistress. She’s also starring in the movie ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’ with Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev.
