Katy Perry’s husband, British actor and comedian Russell Brand was deported from Japan on May 22 when he went to visit the Land of the Rising Sun to watch his wife perform. His wife is in Japan for a series of concert dates in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo.

Around 3:00pm Tokyo time, Katy followed this post “I’M SO EXCITED! I’M IN MY FAVORITE PLACE IN THE WORLD! #JAPAN!!! #CALIFORNIADREAMSTOUR!!!” with this on Twitter “So…my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed.”

Apparently, this was due to Brand’s past. An hour after tweeting this, Perry added, “It was for priors from over 10 years ago! #mamanothappy! #don’tmessw/mahman! #uwannaplaylet’sgo #don’ttakeawomansmanfromhershe’llgetshiasty! ”

According to RadarOnline.com, Russell had been previously arrested for drug offenses and public indecency from over ten years ago. He was arrested 11 times on separate occasions before finally getting clean in 2002. Brand was a former heroin addict and he has spoken in interviews about how he battled drug addiction and his promiscuous lifestyle before he got married. Brand was arrested by the Los Angeles police after he attacked a paparazzo at the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). He was shielding his fiancée Perry from paparazzi who she said put a photo lens up her dress at the Airport. The couple got married in India last October and became one of the most high profile couples in Hollywood.

An immigration official in Tokyo told AFP “We don’t make comments on such a matter because of privacy concerns.” The official declined to confirm the deportation.

Despite being upset about her husband’s deportation, Katy Perry still remained professional and didn’t let the incident affect her performance. Her third twitter post clarified that her show in Japan will not be interrupted. Katy posted “But of COURSE I ♥ my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOON no matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! #it’snotrightbutit’sokay.” She then referred to husband’s Twitter handle and added, “#FREE@RUSTYROCKETS! RT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Katy took what happened and referenced it to the much talked about “End of Days Prophecy” and joked about her husband’s swift departure from Japan and tweeted: “Totes raptured!”

Her husband however accepted what happened with his trademark good humor and posted a tweet and a picture of himself in a room with a clock on the wall. “Planning escape from Japanese custody. It’s bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick,” and “Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled.”

Brand, while pretending to having escaped from custody and feeling sorry for the authorities holding him, also wrote, “Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!”
