Nearly two years have passed since the sudden passing of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, but her mother Katherine Jackson is still coping with the demise of her son from an overdose of a surgical anesthetic.
“Not a day that passes I don’t think about my child,” Katherine Jackson says.
She has moved from the house where Michael used to live to escape “sad memories”, she added. “But it was negligence of a doctor and it’s just hard, really hard.”
Michael’s personal doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the singer’s death. But his trial was postponed until September. Murray has pleaded not guilty to causing his famous patient’s death. A medical expert says it would have been impossible for Michael Jackson to have swallowed the fatal dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol.
Katherine who was awarded the custody of Michael’s three young children Prince, Paris and Blanket since MJ’s passing on June 25, 2009 said she doesn’t talk to the children anything about the trial. “They’re young and I want them to be happy.” She also dismisses as lies the child molestation charges that Michael faced when he was alive. She said the only reason the King of Pop agreed to settle the lawsuit outside the court was because he was at the tour at the time and thought it was the right thing to do. After Michael’ death, the child who accused him of those charges admitted that it was all lies and his parents only want to extort money from the late singer.
Meanwhile, Michael’s kids is reportedly doing well and attending school everyday. His youngest, 9-year-old Blanket, has his own way of remembering his father. He grown his hair long just the way his father wants him to be. Blanket is attending home school while Paris and Prince are attending classes at a private school.
Katherine is now busying herself with her flower arrangement business to avoid wallowing in sadness not only over Michael’s death but also on the delay in the trial of his doctor who was accused to be his killer. She plans to attend the daily hearing when the trial resume in September but warned that she will walk out of court if the defense show pictures of Michael’s autopsy.
When ask on the issue of her health, the 81-year old Jackson matriarch assured that she id in good condition and her limp was not due to old age but because of her childhood battle with polio. When asked what she misses the most about Michael, ““I miss his voice. I miss his singing… I just loved his voice”.
