Kim Kardashian’s mother Kris Jenner wanted to clear up some of the misconceptions surrounding her daughter’s marriage to — and now divorce from — Kris Humphries.
“It makes me feel sad that some people are reacting that way. It certainly wasn’t a sham, certainly wasn’t for TV. We have enough going on on our show that we don’t have to make things up. She felt that she was in love with him. It was an amazing time … I had no idea there was a problem at the time. It saddens all of us.”
Jenner also denied that they sold television rights for millions of dollars and they never profited from the wedding.
Kim Kardashian is currently in Australia with sister Khloe to promote their line of handbags. Kris said her daughter is devastated about the divorce and the rumours regarding the failure of her marriage. But Jenner says even though it is hard being always in the public’s eye, they have no regrets.
“This is what we do. We have people who have invested in our lives from day one, season one, and we enjoy what we do. I feel so blessed and grateful for the TV show,” Jenner said.
Kris said Kim is planning to donate the wedding gifts to a charity but don’t know what the former couple will do with the engagement that she clarify does not worth $2 million as reported.
Kim appeared on “Kyle and Jackie O Show” and cleared that her marriage was a genuine one and not just for television.
“I don’t think I’m ready to go into, you know, the details of what went on in my marriage,” she said. “But I do want to make clear that I would never marry for a TV show, for money, for anything like that. I think that’s really ridiculous that I have to even defend that. But you know, I guess that’s what comes along with when you film your wedding for a reality show … I’m not ready to get into the other details.”
But despite her short-lived marriage she will never give up on love. “I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly.”
Even though the Kardashian family is notorious for their ability to make money in advertisement and selling rights, Kim has a prenup with Kris Humphries that locked her out of saying anything negative about her soon-to-be-ex-husband — and vice versa – at this time. So no television will be given any rights on their break-up story soon.
For his part, Humphries released two statements. “I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce. I’m committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents. I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.”
